Yale Day of Service, May 14

Yale Day of Service

The Yale Club of the Netherlands is taking part in the annual Yale Day of Service on Saturday, May 14.

The playschool (peuterspeelzaal) Ienie Mienie in Zeist is badly in need of a touch-up. The playschool, run by the Stichting MeanderOmnium, prepares 2-4 year olds for school in the North Zeist neighborhood. The neighborhood describes itself as “a unique neighborhood with unique residents from different backgrounds and cultures.” They say further that, “Something is always happening in the neighborhood. Sometimes not so nice things, but luckily also enough nice and good things.” Let’s help do one of the nice and good things.

The project is a variety of indoor/outdoor tasks including repair, cleanup and painting — something for all skill sets.

Family members are welcome and we hope to end the day with a BBQ or the like.

Location is easily reached by car and there is sufficient parking.

Coming by public transit: Buses 52 and 53 take 20 minutes from Utrecht Central Station and stop in front of the door. Bus 50 takes 10 minutes from Driebergen-Zeist Station and stops about a block away. Or, get in touch with the Harmony Folz to arrange carpooling beforehand or a pickup at Driebergen-Zeist or Den Dolder stations on the day.

To register, either visit the Yale Day of Service site and find the Netherlands (to be added shortly) or get in touch with Harmony Folz (ES ’92) at harmony (at) yaleclub.nl or 06 4150 7685. Although you’re welcome to register up until the last minute, please try to let me know by May 8 so the playschool can know how many people to expect and what tasks to prepare to get done.
